A DECISION.
TeTe (tay-tay) brought vegetables to our home every Monday for 19 months.
Her husband is in prison. The bucket is heavy, carefully seamed,
as if to match some of her broken dreams.
Yet,
Tete sells vegetables up and down the steep streets everyday
and with the money, she pays for the vegetables and then
hopefully has enough left to buy rice and beans as well for her children.
We will miss buying fresh vegetables at our Fogo door.
But, we will miss the hope in her steps and her contagious smile,
much much more.
