It's easy to think like that when your roof doesn't leak.

Should
I not want Granite? My days have unfolded the gentle thought
that I have asked the wrong question.
The Thirteenth article of
Faith ends with: "If there is anything virtuous, lovely, of good
report, or praiseworthy, we seek after these things." How
can our Spirits not seek after quality and beauty, art, and
expression, after having spent forever (before here) in a
place of excellence? Is it not what we have known and
the goal that we seek?
On
the other hand: Alma counseled his son, (our whole Sunday School
class yesterday, and me again this morning), not to go after mere
things...for behold, you cannot carry them with you. (Alma
39:14) We don't see u-hauls behind hearses! Why
then, would any of us travel to an important conference for a week
and then spend the entire week re-decorating the motel room and miss
the conference for which we came?! The question must be about
the earth-life conference...(not the color of the bedspread)...right? But, it has
to be okay to have a favorite color, don't you think?
Then,
if my question is the wrong one...what is the right one to ask, to
think about, and to spend my time on? The question must
be...how can I best share my blessings?
For every spirit that
comes to earth has spend forever (before here)...in that same place
of excellence.
Each
of us reach to make sense of all of our longings and belongings. The
gospel of Jesus Christ teaches us the proper place of things, and
people, and priorities, and purpose. Is the balance of blessings
weighed in sharing and caring? May I have granite if I don't
take it for granted? If I give fast offerings generously?
If I entreat my family and guests more graciously?
What
can I share so someone can rejoice with me in the truth of a perfect
plan that can take us back to the beautiful quality that Isaiah spoke
of: "For since the beginning of the world men have not heard,
not perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside
Thee, what He hath prepared for him that waiteth for him."
Isaiah 64:4) Sounds like things far greater than
granite!
I have discovered that it doesn't really matter if we have granite cabinets and it doesn't really matter if our roofs are leaking onto our dirt floors becoming mud. What DOES MATTER is that we share what we have and help who we can. Becoming a disciple of Jesus means we become the best that we can and use our blessings to inspire, serve, and bless others. For some, having food is as happy as having granite! I love that we can donate to the Humanitarian Fund and that we belong to a Church who loves everyone of Heavenly Father's children. It is a miracle to see all the help coming in from those who want to share.

What
can I do to help someone remember that they have great value and that
they are loved perfectly? Maybe that is the right question.

This is just what I needed this week. Thank you for being in tune enough to write what I needed to read. I've been asking the wrong question!
I LOVE YOU!
